Transaer Cologne was founded in 1998 as a subsidiary of Irish company Transaer International Airlines. Operating almost exclusively at Cologne/Bonn Airport, operations began in March 1999 with an Airbus A320-200 and so IT charter services were flown on behalf of various tour operators. In addition to smaller tour operators, companies such as Schauinsland-Reisen, Alltours and today's Thomas Cook Group are among the customers of Transaer Cologne. In addition, from July 2, 1999, government officials were also transported between Cologne and Berlin, although a changing market situation meant that the company had to cease operations on April 8, 2000 after the last flight from Palma to Cologne had been carried out. The Irish parent company Transaer International Airlines also ceased operations on October 20 of the same year and was subsequently liquidated.
